Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Users have commenced turning to custom matches made via Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Some of these gated guns might eventually make their appearance on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

A different forum member brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and perhaps Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

But when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
