The world's favorite pizza-loving superheroes are arriving to the popular trading card game. The well-known TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, revealed a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive event held at NYCC. Is this a exciting addition or yet another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including some useful background. Everything listed below releases on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27th.
Before diving into all the various unique products and collections on offer, we’ll examine at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking details. First, there's a new mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the game field when an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change here is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the ability a little (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). The original ability is staying, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior designer explained. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and Sneak is what's going to be in standard, it's more likely that we'd use Sneak.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with unique artwork created exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist Kevin Eastman.
Additionally, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. Yet as per Wizards, it’s now a legal card in every format of Magic.
In any case, below are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
As per the company’s current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they were careful to make sure the new cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for 15 months and we knew it would be Standard-legal and what other sets would be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “We designed to ensure that they work well with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet archetype built around artifacts.
“They combine to provide the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer added.
After declining to design any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your Commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area rather than just one). Check them out for yourself:
The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, though the price may rise based on popularity. Sources indicated that it contains 43 new cards in total, which means an extra thirty-seven Turtle-themed cards in addition to the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprints if we estimate the precon includes 37 land cards.)
How will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and see.
As per usual, the company is selling a collection. This one is priced at $69.99 and includes the following:
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:
If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprint of an older card with brand-new TMNT art. Wizards showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos available.
This special bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
This unique product is made for a four-player draft and costs $119.99. It includes:
Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to develop Magic products aimed at new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that allow two players team up against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The concept here that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creatures included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts an additional card each turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
