The Israeli administration has officially approved a comprehensive ceasefire agreement that includes the liberation of all outstanding detainees held by the militant group in Gaza, marking a significant step toward ending the destructive two-year war.
Senior officials in Washington have announced that a US armed forces contingent of around 200 personnel will be deployed to the region to "supervise" the cessation of hostilities after both Israel and Hamas consented to the initial step of the Trump leadership's peace proposal.
His role will be to supervise, watch, ensure there are no infractions.
Based on an Israeli official, the truce should start right away following cabinet endorsement. The Israel's military was given 24 hours to pull back its forces to an established boundary. Following that, the detainees held in the Gaza Strip would be released within 72 hours, a government spokesperson announced.
There are no plans for UK or EU military personnel to be in the Gaza Strip after the halt in fighting agreement, the United Kingdom's foreign secretary Yvette Cooper declared. "This is not our arrangement, there's no arrangements to do that," she said on the current day morning.
The foreign secretary continued: "But there is an prompt proposal for the US to spearhead what is effectively like a supervision system to make sure that this happens on the ground, to oversee the system with hostage liberation, and also guaranteeing that this first step is enacted, getting the relief in position, but they have also made very unambiguous that they foresee the forces on the location to be provided by neighbouring countries, and that is something that we do anticipate to take place."
Cooper said she expects the halt in fighting will be enacted "without delay". According to the foreign secretary, there are international negotiations on an "worldwide safety unit" and the United Kingdom was persisting to assist in other methods, including exploring getting commercial funding into the Gaza Strip.
Israeli citizens and Palestinians alike rejoiced after the truce arrangement was declared, while there was joy but also anxiety in the Gaza Strip amid fears the recent arrangement could collapse.
