Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games
Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
